In the 8th month of your pregnancy there will be an intake at your home to discuss your needs and expectations for the postpartum period. You can ask me anything. From the 37thweek of your pregnancy I’m 24 hours a day on call so you can let me know in time when labour starts.
When you’re giving birth at home I will come to arrange the final preparations before the delivery. During labour I will stand by you and assist the midwife at her work if necessary.
When the baby is born I will stay till at least two hours after birth to take care of you and your baby and to do the checkups and tidy up your room. When delivery took place during daytime I will stay till the end of the afternoon. When you delivered your child in hospital I’ll come as soon as possible after you are discharged. During the maternity period (8 days) I’ll take care of you and your family as well as your home.
My priority is to care for mother and child. I’ll observe the feedings closely and give advise to nurse as comfortably as possible.
My work also includes the following tasks:
- daily monitoring babies behaviour
- checkups of mother and child
- providing information and instructions regarding breastfeeding or preparing and cleaning a bottle
- taking care of your meals
- taking care of the laundry (no overdue laundry)
- daily cleaning shower and toilet
- welcoming your family and friends
- in consultation with you, other daily household work
To run these tasks properly and in according with the occupational health and safety standards I beg you to put your bed on bed risers. These can be borrowed from Medipoint or Vegro or ask your midwife.
The basic care includes 45/49 hours spreads over 8 days. It is important that you already arrange additional care for the hours after I finished my work and for dropping off and picking up any other child in day care or school.
